MEET DR. SHANNON DUDLEY VANN, DDS

Dr. Shannon Dudley Vann grew up in Germanton and enjoys practicing dentistry in the area where she was raised. In 2001, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with highest distinction. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UNC also and graduated with honors in 2005. After working in Raleigh for 2 years, she returned home and joined Dr. Helsabeck in practice.

MEET DR. SHANNON DUDLEY VANN, DDS

Dr. Vann is very active in the community and organized dentistry. She is a member of the Rural Hall Area Business Association, American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and the Forsyth County Dental Society. Dr. Vann has served in leadership positions in several of these organizations, including President of the FCDS, President of RHABA, and President of 2^nd District of NCDS. Dr. Vann has served on several boards and committees for dental health.

She volunteers at NC Missions of Mercy clinics, North Carolina Baptist Men dental buses, sealant projects, and Community Care. She is the past chair of Forsyth Technical Community College Dental Advisory Committee. She is very active in her church Ardmore Baptist. She is married and has two sons who keep her very busy.

MEET DR. JAMES R. HELSABECK, DDS

He is married and has two daughters and three grandchildren.

Dr. James Robert Helsabeck grew up in Rural Hall. After graduating from Northwest High School, he attended Wake Forest College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1966. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Helsabeck joined the practice with his father. Dr. Helsabeck is very active in organized dentistry, the community, and his church.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society, Forsyth County Dental Society, Second District Dental Society, Piedmont Society for Advanced Dental Study, and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He has served as President of the FCDS, Second District Dental Society, and PSADS. In the community, he has served as President of the Rural Hall Area Business Association, served on the Board of Directors at the Northwest YMCA, Board of Directors for the Community Partnership for Dental Health, and Board of Visitors at Salem Academy and College.

He volunteers at Community Care, Doctors Care, NC Missions of Mercy clinics, Living Waters Clinic, and the NC Baptist Men Dental Bus. He is very active in his church, Rural Hall Moravian and has served on the Board of Directors Mission Society Southern Province of the Moravian Church. He is married and has two daughters and three grandchildren.

Cindy Davis

Cindy grew up in Rural Hall and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1976

Cindy grew up in Rural Hall and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1976. She then received her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979. Upon graduation, she began working here in practice and she loves serving the community where she grew up.

Cindy has an extremely loyal following of patients, many of whom she has treated for several years. Patients consider Cindy as part of their family and they enjoy catching up with her at their visits. Cindy has tremendous dental knowledge and experience and is extremely thorough and efficient.

Vickie Gillespie

Vickie grew up in Sparta and graduated from Alleghany High School in 1980

Vickie grew up in Sparta and graduated from Alleghany High School in 1980. She then received her associate degree in dental hygiene from Central Piedmont Community College in 1983. Vickie has worked in our office since July 1994.

Patients enjoy her funny personality and her gentle, caring attitude. She enjoys getting to know her patients, and has a wealth of experience as a hygienist, having worked in several different offices throughout the years.

Crystal grew up in Winston-Salem. She graduated from Mount Tabor High School in 1999 and then

Crystal grew up in Winston-Salem. She graduated from Mount Tabor High School in 1999 and then attended UNC-Charlotte. She graduated from the Forsyth Technical College Dental Assisting program in 2003 and began working here in this practice upon graduation.

She was in the inaugural class of dental assisting students at FTCC. She and Dr. Vann have worked together since 2007. Patients love Crystal’s sense of humor. She is quick to crack a joke or to make a hilarious come back. Crystal is a fantastic golfer, and she also enjoys bowling, fishing, and camping.

Kim Tucker

Kim grew up in Elkin and graduated from Elkin High School in 1995

Kim grew up in Elkin and graduated from Elkin High School in 1995. She graduated from the Wilkes Community College Dental Assisting program in 1996. Kim has tremendous experience in general dentistry, but also worked in endodontics for three years when she lived in Arkansas. She has worked at our office since 2004.

Kim is a very valuable member of our team, as she has training as a dental assistant and at the front desk. You may see Kim assisting with dental procedures in the back or you may also see her scheduling appointments and answering insurance questions upfront. Patients enjoy Kim’s friendly and caring personality.

Sharon Brown

Sharon grew up in Dobson and graduated from Surry Central High School in 1983

Sharon grew up in Dobson and graduated from Surry Central High School in 1983. She graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dental Assisting Program in 1984 and has worked in our office since May 1998. Sharon has a vast knowledge of insurance issues in dentistry.

Having been trained as a dental assistant, she uses this knowledge to help patients when they call with questions about their teeth or about their dental insurance. Patients appreciate the way that Sharon goes above and beyond the call of duty to help them get their dental insurance claims paid properly and any insurance questions answered.

Annette Helsabeck, Front Desk

Annette grew up here in Rural Hall and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1974. She graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services. She is the daughter of Dr. Robert Helsabeck and the sister of Dr. Jim Helsabeck. Annette lived in Wilson, Wyoming for 20 years and then moved back to Rural Hall to take care of her family.

Annette has worked in dentistry intermittently her entire life. We are happy to have her back at the office on a full-time basis now. Patients enjoy her friendly reminder calls and caring demeanor. Annette enjoys being outdoors, riding horses, and traveling.
